Gobs of ripe, blackberries, dark cherries, blue fruits, leather, cedar, graphite, darkest expresso roast, dry earth, getting elegant but, Iā€™d still hold this another 5 years.

Photo of Peter Carter pouring today.

@David L @Carl Fischer @Ron R @Joe Lucca @Kirk Alexander Christine & I had dinner with my buddy Kirk and his beatific wife Veronica. I uncorked this one since it had been such a reliable pour the last time I opened it. However, in New York it had disappointed all of us. I am back to being disappointed. This is the type of bottle that you have to open by itself and not showcase it against any other as it will swiftly retreat into the shadows. Light on the palate, super short finish. This bottle came in dead last tonight. I can't believe the other that I opened impressed me that much that night. I don't do this often but I will knock it down to an 8.9.

Holy shit this is good!! A&J vineyard
@Carl Fischer @Ron R @David A Lentine I must have opened a bad bottle in New York. If you guys remember, we tasted it and literally threw it away. Decanted this for two hours and it is absolutely blowing up! Firing on all cylinders. Full-bodied, flowers spice and everything that's nice! LOL. For the life of me, I feel as if I almost get a little forest floor out of it. Truly amazing wine.!! šŸ˜šŸ·šŸ·šŸ˜.
Carl, you and I distinctively hated this when we uncorked it in New York. You would not even recognize this bottle! It's amazing! Have a great Thanksgiving my friends!

04' Carter Napa Valley Cabernet. My larger than life wine geek friend @Martin G Rivard sent me this GREAT bottle. I am truly a believer, as are the rest of the people you sent this bottle of wine too.

Edit- Decanted it for "2 hours". It's perfectly aged. The palate has got blackberry, blueberries, coco, a little spice. All encompassing mouth feel. Long elegant finish. Drinking in it's prime now. Many more great years in front of it. Highly recommend!!
@Martin G Rivard not showing its age at all. Edit- The Somm, at Eddie V's, said it's one of the best wines he's had this year!!

Post Red Sox-Padres game with this Sox and wine fan. A bottle generously provided by @Martin G Rivard who I had just "met" on Delectable and he sent this Carter just because he saw that I had never posted one. That's pretty cool s**t!! So cheers to Martin and Claire and all the B's that make the world a great place to live. Bottles, boobs, Bender's....all of it. As for the wine it was indeed my first Carter cab and I was impressed. The label reminds me of Schrader and the wine does too. After an hour in the decanter soft beautiful blue and black fruits coat the mouth, dark chocolate and earth converge followed by a smooth silky mouthfeel and a long finish that lingers. I'm sold.

Impeccable!
A luscious perfume of sweet cherries, barrel toast, a hint of spice box and jam compote .
The palette is equally stunning. It has a pure, clean texture. The fruits are extracted, yet poised. Mid palette expresses the sense of place. Dusty tannins are perfectly integrated. Finishes very long, with notes of syrup de cassis and ripe blueberries,

Photography by wifey.

@Martin G Rivard - this is solid gold. Thank you so much. We are scarred for life after tasting this...

It was Perfect and by far one of the best of the night which is a bold statement given the lineup that I opened and poured

This is the 2016 OG. One of the best wines I have ever tasted. Very smooth. Some hint of berries.
