This year it’s a coferment of 52% syrah/48% grenache. It’s extremely young and primary at this stage, bold acidity and slight tannic presence. The brightness of the grenache dominates the profile, but there are some smokey undertones from the syrah. This should develop into something fantastic, it just needs time. Will wait 5 years before the next one.

A brand new wine from Carlisle. A single vineyard co-ferment of 56% syrah and 44% mourvedre and wow is it delicious. Very skimpy production, even by carlisle standards (115 cases made) but it’s one of my new top 3 favorite from Mike Officer and team.

Opens with a spicy black currant, plum, and cracked pepper nose. Heavy and round in the mouth, leading to a long sweet finish, with nice mid-palete acidity. The Mourvèdre is very expressive.
