Dupratt Vineyard Zinfandel

Complex and less blunt than 2 years ago, but still too ripe for me.

A few fun 4th Friday wines from tonight.

My first experience with this zin from Carlisle. When compared to the Linne Calado it shared the tabled with, this was slightly sweeter compared to tart/underripe. 100% Zin. Notes of squeezed boysenberries, candied black cherries, fig, raspberry chocolates jump from the glass. On the palate...wow! So tart! Cran-raspberries, currant, red plum, red sweet-tarts and black cherry preserves coat the mouth in a fairly dense profile.

Too ripe and tasted over oaked to me. I drink a fair amount of older Carlisle and this is the first time I have encountered this. Hope it is just the bottle but probably my least favorite Carlisle Zin to date and only got more astringent after being open 24 and 36 hours.

A very nice Zin. Nose of pepper but enough fruit concentrate to move it to the next level. Very nice with grilled pork chops and grilled tomatoes. Yes

An excellent bottle of Zin, showing red berry fruit in spades with a mentholated backdrop of herbs and strong acid structure.

Remarkably subtle for a Carlisle! Nice medium midnight color but much lighter in weight than anticipated and much brighter with balance coming through. Ripe blackberry/cassis and nice polished tannins to a chuggable finish. Perfect with homemade chili!

Black fruit, cocoa powder and tobacco.

Spicy , earthy and a real zin. Just like I like. A little thin but good stuff

2014 vintage has nice tart fruit with structure. Some tannins but balanced. Like it a lot!
