Great wine, really awesome this Aglianico del Vulture. Rich, complex, long and still so young, with a long aging potential. #aglianico

This is one of the most age worthy and imortant red grapes of the south.

Un bel vino rovinato in parte dal tannino che non pulisce la bocca come dovrebbe.

We are now in Matera... A special year for a special city. Besides being the European capital of culture 2019, it's the site of the opening scene of the new Bond movie. D.Craig picked the same spot for his accommodations. Anyways, I was ready for Aglianico....

With artisan pizzas all around, this 2010 paired wonderfully.

A big wine at 14.5 ABV, color is only starting to turn the rim, otherwise a deep dark ruby.

Earthy, black licorice, dusty, black olives on the nose, continuing to the palate. Tannins at are very firm and grippy. This thing could be cellared for several more years. I loved this wine.

Favoloso! I found guanciale and made a ridiculous carbonara to go with this Aglianico. What a terrific bottle!
