Killer. Wow. More soon but awesome cherry infused with spice on the velvety and super long finish. Nose is chestnut, cherries and roses. Very fragrant. Palate is juicy and ripe but with those massive 18 tannins and mineral underpinning. Also showing some heat after air.

Feb 8th, 2025A gorgeous but tight wine. Air is this wine’s friend as the core is there. Nose is super pure mid season cherry. Fall leaves, dried chestnut, so complex and pretty. 9.5 nose. Just out of sight. Palate is tight, but also ephemeral and elegant but has the power that Gattinara had and is known for. Palate is like 25% open on PNP but I will be back.

N: Cherries, old shoe leather, tree bark, red verging on black. Has the quality of a freshly pitted bowl of cherries, pits still clinging to the flesh. It’s very “ lifted” as they say… Volnay like.
P: Seamless,delicate, acid but not overtly, not rich…gossamer. Delightful mouthfeel, silky.Red fruited, cherries & plums, some tobacco, integrated tannins. Mountain Nebbiolo indeed.

Palate: silky cherry juice. So elegant. Sour cherries. Lovely. So fresh.
The nose is approaching amazing old Nebbiolo. The palate is still half way between young Lucius fruit and old nebbiolo.
I’d give this 3 years at this point. But it proves that these wines can and will age beautifully

Palate: silky cherry juice. So elegant. Sour cherries. Lovely. So fresh.

Palate is perfect sweet cherry juice. Some spice. Wow. This is maximally delicious. Mineral. You can’t stop drinking this. Fresh. Perfect hint of balancing bitterness.
20-5 was hot in the Langhe but in Alto it’s a perfect vintage if you like sweet Nebbiolo fruit.

A very elegant wine - attenuated nose of plum/cherry. Palate is more of the same but rather mineral and filtered quite elegantly through a tannic structure buttressed by just enough acidity. The structure really shines. Long finish & miles to go. A lovely wine from @Lyle Fass 😍

May 12th, 2022Man this is so young. 3-5 years at least from an early peak. But you can see the greatness. Man this is going to be a wine of a lifetime.
Nose is pungent cranberry flowers. An assault on the no trial. Nose petals peeking through. Some lilacs.
Palate is stunningly fresh. So delsignore. You get the amazing Nebbiolo fruit you’d expect from 16 but it’s as fresh as just picked grapes. Bright cherry. A bit of darker red cherry. A hint of licorice. Some cranberry fruit.
A beautiful wine.
On the swallow this is starting to show that “oh my god I can’t believe I’m drinking this” perfect balance of truly great wines.
As this opens piercingly intense. Pure pure pure. A hint of elegant brick like you get in old burgundy. Intense Dried rose petal extract.
Finish is so profound you leave it on the palate for like a minute sucking in air and mumbling “mmmph. Mmmph mmmph” it’s so good you do t want it to stop.

Ok. MUCH better than the previous bottle which was a reticent bastard for some damned reason. This is the wine I loved.
Nose is earth and perfume. Gorgeous. Intoxicating. Lilacs ? God. I’m almost crying it’s so good. Ever changing - top level Nebbiolo nose.
As this open it’s Fucking volnay. It’s fucking volnay. Lilacs. A hint of candied lilacs. Amazing.
Palate is sweet cherry fruit. Jaw dropping texture. Incredibly juicy. Just juicy as hell so drinkably delicious for a wine of this level of elegance. Elegant like 1er cru burgundy.
Long as heck.
