Calera Wine Company
Central Coast Chardonnay
Brilliant medium density yellow green. Medium complexity and medium intense aromas of pear, Apple blossom, lemon custard, and hazelnuts. A dry wine but tropical flavors coupled with a round glycerol viscosity leaves an impression of sweetness. Medium, juicy acid, full body, slight bitterness and a touch of astringency. High heat gives an immediate prickle on the lips 14.4%. Overall smooth texture with dense tropical fruit on the medium finish

Nov 16th, 2013Opened this bottle 2 days ago and I thought it was tight and citrussy, and the timber was slightly clumsy and not yet integrated.
Today, after 2 days in the fridge, the wine has put on weight and interest showing nuances of breadcrust, butter and vanilla. But the oak-treatment still isn't very appealing. Maybe, hopefully, it just needs more time to integrate.

Feb 21st, 2014Camomile, clover, and pear. Over Oaked and without restraint on the ML fermentation make for an easily Rejected California Chardonnay that screams undifferentiated mediocrity.

Jan 13th, 2017Fresh, good acidity, minerality, yellow stone fruits, some butter and vanilla. Not too oaky.
Although I liked this wine quite a bit, I had higher expectations. A little more depth and complexity would have been nice.
