Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
My favorite vineyard out of Red Mountain. Dark ruby. Distinctive red mountain nose - dense berry, clay, black cherry cola. Lingering taste on the palette, luscious mouth feel with fig, black cherry and dark chocolate in taste.

May 27th, 2019Opaque ruby violet with prominent tears. Aromas of cherry liqueur, plum, violets, and tobacco leaf. Still quite structured on the palate although the tannins have softened. Made from 39% Cabernet Franc, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petit Verdot, and 11% Merlot. 14.4% ABV.

Dec 30th, 2017Happy 4th! Signed by the man himself, Ben Smith, during a wonderful visit to the winery in Seattle some years ago. The wine has years to develop but ready to drink—gorgeous cherry, vanilla, cedar, figs, menthol and unsweetened cocoa

Apr 15th, 2017Deep purple from core to rim. The nose brims with black fruit, plums and dusty earthiness with brown bramble. The palate is clean, elegant with supple, juicy black and blue fruits with a touch of earthiness and graphite. The bright core of fruit provides good depth, balanced by pleasant acidity and soft tannins. Drink now through 2020+.

Nov 26th, 2015The nose showed crush black cherry with minerals, floral tones and a distinct savory richness. On the palate it was truly intense yet smooth with notes of cherry, sweet herbs and dark chocolate. The finish showed more of its youthful tannin, giving the fruit a dry yet still wonderfully concentrated persona. The 2012 Ciel du Cheval should spend a couple of years in the cellar for the best experience, as I am quite excited to see where it’s going.
