Ca' del Grifone
Sangiovese
The chameleonic nature of #sangiovese reveals itself here. This #puglia presents a savory character with blackberry, stewed plum, balsamic notes balanced against rosemary and Mediterranean herbs. Medium plus palate, racy acidity and delicate tannins on the finish. Brilliant food-friendly wine.

Feb 27th, 2024Similar notes as from a few weeks ago - this time an hour after uncorking this #sangiovese presents Morello cherry, sous bois, but the Provençal spice notes are more muted this time. Cherry, cola nut, toffee notes on the palate featuring tongue-enveloping fine tannins on the finish. The first bottle may have been opened longer. Satisfying QPR here from a #costcowine

May 21st, 2023Haven’t had this in a long time, used to be my go-to cheap wine.
NOSE: plum, black cherry, elderberry, chalk, varnish, tree sap.
TASTE: it’s fine! Dull, but inoffensive - cooked fruits, a little raisin. A little watery. Big sips that cover your tongue make it tastier, a little woody tannin comes out that balances it. Just enough acidity to be pleasant. 84. Good value for $5, good change from the usual $4-5 options.
