And now for something completely different. Tasted blind. Brownish red. Notes of brown sugar, cola, cherries, roses, salt, some anise and a little tar in the background. Sweet and pure in the mouth. Delicate but somehow powerful with a lasting finish. I waffled between thinking this was old Nebbiolo or really old red burg. Based on the table discussion I landed with a guess of 64 Giacosa. Bingo. This was the third time I’ve had a 64 Giacosa, with the previous two (Barbarescos ) having flaws. Was told the bottle was open/decanted at 8am and we tackled it 12 hours later. Sounds about right. Last sip was the best. This was outstanding and my WOTN.

Feb 16th, 2020A really dense nose packed with blackberry, macerated cherry, deep leather. The palate is similarly intense with roses and gorgeous but dense fruit. Clearly amazing stuff but still a puppy. Incredible potential but young right now.
