What greedy person could possibly want something more from a bottle of wine? This was stunning. A complete experience. Absolutely loved it! Gave it plenty of time to open. Mature but still vibrant fruit. Aromatics were so enticing. Full potential of Nebbiolo. Pale and clear at the rim. Delicate on the nose but powerful and long. Just top notch.

A lot of menthol, but with a good bit of depth, it is enjoyable, but still very young and it really needs more time for the menthol to fade and the other flavors and aromas to become more prominent as it is pretty monolithic at the moment. It had been double decanted at least a few hours before dinner, if I recall correctly.

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives. -Hedley Lamarr Blazing Saddles My mind was a whirl after drinking this wine.
This is easily one of the best Italian wines I have ever had. The color was taking on that brownish hue and the nose was gorgeous. Red fruit, minerals with silky tannins. It just kept getting better as time went by. The finish was literally a minute long. Amazing!

Cherries, smoke(tar) and menthol. Very ripe but seductive nonetheless. Keep improving in fragrance and definition over 3 hours.

1996 Bruno Giacosa Riserva Asili di Barbaresco. Dinner at RW during staycation. Interesting nose- graphite and pencil shavings and sour fruit. A little lean and not as big as in the past. Drank this before the '99 Soldera and glad we did. Totally enjoyed this wine.

Incredibly dense, fine but packed tannins. Unbelievable intensity of fruit but oh, so contained. Just brilliant in potential but now, clammed-down. A couple of decades later this could be perfect.
