Broc Cellars
Petillant Wine Mendocino Valdiguié
Mendocino, North Coast, California, USA
Interesting with a bit of age. I made a strawberry rhubarb pie last week and on the nose I get smells of cutting up the rhubarb and strawberries. There is a significant cherry and jolly rancher flavor as well. Just enough acid and river rock to keep it going well. Great on a hot day.

Fruity and effervescent, with a slight savory and meaty flavor on the mid palate. Great sparkling wine.

Broc is the gateway drug to natural wine. He makes very good stuff, but not necessarily innovative or boundary pushing. And for me, his star horse is and always has been Chenin. So it goes with the 2018 Valdiguie Pet Nat. It’s good but not excellent. Fine for fun. Bright pink and candied red fruit, grapefruit, bitter citrus. Jovial and celebratory.
