Napa Valley Sangiovese
Pours tawny in color. ON THE NOSE: not very aromatic at all. Slight meatiness ON THE PALATE: more going on here. Earth, dark fruit, like a Wisconsin cherry, and more meatiness. Alcohol lingers on tongue. Medium body medium (+) finish.

May 17th, 2021Napa Valley Sangiovese? Beautiful dark garnet in color. Hints of blueberries, baking spices and dried flowers on the nose. Given where these grapes come from it is not surprising that there are great flavors of dark plums, blueberries, licorice and mint on the palate. Tannins are very refined and the acidity is very mouthwatering. A hidden gem in Calistoga!

Feb 21st, 2020Unique varietal for Calistoga wines. Limited aromatics - earthy, strawberry jelly almost. Opens nicely, medium bodied, a nice tannin and tartness blend, plummy, dark fruit balanced with earthy. Really enjoyed it, but totally biased, as the cellarmaster brought us the bottle!

Nov 25th, 2017Fantastic wine. Great bouquet. Bold. Flavorful. Almost tastes like a Cabernet. Cynthia brought for us.

Mar 12th, 2017Sangiovese. Napa Valley. Not usually a varietal you think about from Napa. Wonderful color in the glass followed by hints of cherry pie, vanilla extract and grape jelly. Fruit forward but very smooth and easy to drink. Great flavors of cherry pie, a little licorice and spice. Tannins are sleek and this is a pop and pour wine for sure. The climate in Napa does wonders for getting the grapes ripe. I don't know many Super Tuscans that you can drink at such a young age.
