Really pretty, had with salmon. Wild berry, cherry, violets, underbrush, crushed rocks, medium tannins and nice acid.

Apr 6th, 2024Very pretty 1er Cru Savigny. More on the approachable and fruit-forward side. Brilliant color and clarity- deep ruby with hues of violet. The nose is very open, aromatic and sexy. Loads of bing cherry and baking spice with earthy top soil notes and a touch of Brett. Mid palate is succulent, juicy and refreshing. Good acid and focus throughout. Firm but sweet tannins that seemed to grip a bit more on the 2nd night. Subtle minerality brings another dimension to the finish. This is drinking great right now and will certainly offer a few more years of development. A serious but approachable Pinot Noir that New World fans should be able to appreciate fairly easily, but with something to offer for the Burgundy lover as well. Solid and versatile wine at a reasonable price point.

1 person found it helpfulOct 23rd, 2020Nose has ripe black cherry, stemmy notes or autumn leaves, ripe plum flesh, red/green pepper in your brown paper grocery bag which got a little wet in the rain as you hurried to your car, mashed blackberry and light oak toasty-ness.
Palate has blackberry & black cherry jam, over-ripe black currant, light green herbs and toasty oak barrel.
Decanted ~3hr, just becoming ready after about 5hr. 2013 was a satisfactory vintage, this faired well.
