Has a slight effervescence upon opening. May need a little decant.

09' Booker Alchemist . 65% Syrah, 15% CB, 10% PV, 10% Grenache. A short decanting of an hour does wonders for this . After an hour it all comes together.

The nose just sells this wine with inviting black cherries & black raspberries. Palate- Sweet black raspberry, cedar, toast, healthy amount of spices. Long & lingering finish. Medium + bodied & drinking in it's prime now. Edit- Much better then it was just a few years back. Note to self- BUY MORE BOOKER-

Drinking absolutely perfectly right now. Had a tasting with Eric a few years back who said he prefers his wines within the first few years, but I have to say that virtually every Booker wine I’ve had (save for the whites and roses) have improved substantially with a few more years in the cellar. We last had this in 2015, and it is substantially better now. At this stage I don’t think it’s going to improve much going forward, but it is terrific right now (so drink ‘em if ya got ‘em!).

What a nose! And the wine is pretty damned good too. Deep, dry intense black and red berry and cherry. 15.5 ABV, low on alcoholic burn and tannin. Very nice surprise, only opened an hour before pouring.
65% Syrah - and then a nice blend of Cab, Petite Verdot, and Grenache.
Thoroughly enjoyable, and after my fair share of recent low 90's, brought a Big Smile to my face.
One of those wines you just want to stick your nose in and leave it there. 9.6

Booker and BBQ Chicken Pizza, or any kind of BBQ for that matter...a match made in heaven. White pepper, herbs, raspberry compote...so savory!
