Everything in balance, a very Crozes-like Syrah. Nose has preserved beef, smoky gravel, graphite, and a wee bit of blackberry fruit. Mouthfilling savory flavors, but without overextraction and with decent acids. Had it with mesquite-grilled pasture raised burgers. A propitious paring.

My last bottle about 2 years ago was closed, but boy has this opened up! Northern Rhône nose shows very granite-like minerality (is there even any granite in Cali?) and dark, feral berry fruit. Cracked black peppercorns too. Soft, balanced and mouthfilling, marked with dark, delicate fruit and a gentle iodine note. What a bargain at $15!

This wine needs serious air time. First night it smelled like the inside of a bag of chunk charcoal. Smoky and graphite. Put the cap back on. Night two, a little fruit peeks through. Night three, delicious. Smoky minerals, violets, blackberry. Rich and dry. Dark smoky blackberry. Loads of dark minerals. Long. Plenty of soft tannin. Less acidity than I expected but this will definitely improve over the next 3-4 years anyway. Nicely done.

Musty nose of earth and eucalyptus. Alcohol quickly blows off. Big peppery flavors. Not incredibly complex but very tasty!

A little fruitier than I was expecting but I liked it just fine. Didn't blow me away, not exactly distinctive. Was perfect for a lamb & cauliflower dinner.

Plum, burnt wood and citrus on the nose. Meaty, tobacco strawberry tasting notes. Acidic. Medium low tannins.

Day 1. Closed and tannic. After reading my brother Tom's post I put it away and tried it day 2. Still not there. I Felt like garbage day 3 but on day 4, it is ready.
