#AgedWineTuesday

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Beautiful nose of blueberries, black plums, cooked cherries, oak, light licorice, earth, chocolates, tobacco leaf, light must, peppercorn, raisins, herbs, dried figs and light alcohol.

Full bodied, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with black currants, sweet plums, cooked cherries, oak, light vanilla, spices, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, chocolates, earth, herbs and licorice.

Spicy long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 14 year old Amarone is still delicious, with a beautiful color and a great nose. Tangy and very spicy.

Elegant and fruit forward. Easy drinking and good right out of the bottle.

Will not last much longer, so drink up if you have one.

Robert Parker 90 points.

Thank you Elvira for sharing this with me.

Paired nicely with Pizza.

A blend of 70% Corvina and Corvinone, and 30% of indigenous grapes. Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$50(current vintage).

When Abele Bolla opened up Al Gambero Inn in the No. Italian town of Soave over 100 years ago, no one could have guessed that favorite pastime of winemaking would continue for 4 generations. Deep Ruby with aromas of jammy berry fruits, spice and cedar. On the palate flavors of black cherry & dried plum, bold spice, floral, cacao and cedar. Structured round tannins, nicely balanced, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and earthy spice. Just starting to drink well now with room to age.

Rusty red robe. Big, bold nose with aromas of sour cherry, dried date & fig, cranberry, blackberry, smoked bacon and mocha with some hints of raisin, cinnamon and vanilla. Nice stuff, really. The palate is equally generous, with plenty of blackberry, blackcurrant and cedar spice, and a very supple, velvety texture and chocolatey finish - a finish that’s mighty hot, mind. I guess this wine is fairly typical of Amarone, a DOCG I have very limited experience in tasting. If I was blind tasting this, I’d like to think I’d land on Amarone by process of elimination as it’s fairly unique in its aromatic profile and quite obviously has a high ABV.

Ruby with with aromas of dried fruits with smoky spice notes. On the palate ripe blackberry and cherry flavors, savory, with tobacco & cacao notes. Full ripe tannins, chewy on long finish ending with a juicy fruit and pepper spice character.

Not the best Amarone, but not the worst, right down the middle.

Soft tannin, fruity, long, balanced, pleasant colours, back flavors of cassis, nice grapiness toward the end. Very good with Chinese food
