Got this at the local Safeway for cooking and it’s actually quite drinkable and identifiably Zin. Earthy, plummy blackberry fruit. Not jammy. Quite dry. Good balance, with the alcohol poking out a little on the finish.

This wine is dark in color and hearty in all other areas. The nose is dark and complex, full of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry and cherry aromas. A full complement of oak spice is on hand, too - clove, cedar, cigar, allspice, nutmeg and anise all battle for attention. On the palate, big fruit flavors hit first with an earthy undercurrent that follows. Tannins are firm, but not bothersome. Acidity is fresh and zippy. I paired it with an ancient hummus made with chickpeas and roasted walnuts, and it was fantastic. If I do say so myself.

The nose had a strong cedar aroma, like opening a cedar chest. There was also a bit of blackberry and plum on the nose. The mouth feel is very full and satisfying. The palate has big blackberry and plum flavors. It’s a bit jammy, but not too much so. A little walnut is also in there and there’s some mid-palate chocolate. A super spicy finish that makes this quite enjoyable.

A nice Red Zin for the price. For just a little more I prefer Cline Old Vine or Klinker Brick. But, for everyday, very drinkable.

Little earthiness but not much complexity or specificity

A little peppery and spicy but smooth and not that bold for a zinfandel. Slightly jammy.

Had at home with Brittany and the Saloum's. 92 points notes of black cherry, raspberry and blackberry.

Aged this one a bit. Dense purple hue. "Legs" on inside of glass after pour- high alcohol? Cedar, blackberry, tar notes in nose with a hint of prune. Blackberry briar and tar flavors in mouth, plum and slight mint finish. Seed bitterness in aftertaste. Rich, viscous. Held up well, nice wine for the price
