Crunchy red fruit and black pepper. A very present but controlled damp soil character, that evolves into a crushed stone minerality in the background that brings dimension and a intriguing character to the nose.
An airy palate, yet with a grasping bite, plenty of pepper and a high freshness that penetrates the fruit and holds through a solid finish.
It manage the art of being easy to drink, yet with a gripping and tense structure as well as a good complexity that ask for your attention.
Drink it on the cooler side and it will serve you well as summer red. Nothing less than a bargain from the master of Bobal.

Juan Antonio Ponce stands alone as the leader of the Manchuela DO and the master of the region’s indigenous Bobal grape. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, spice and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with some floral spice, cacao and earthy accents. Medium+ finish, fine grainy tannins, ending with fruit and mineral tang. Nice value!

Impeccable nose (had some fermentative aromas and needed to breathe) of fruits du bois, blueberries, strawberries and cherries. A beauty, with good, slightly firm, tannins and length. Much enjoyed

I'm giving it a 9 because #Bobal is a difficult grape and this wine is elegant and well balanced. It's logical that others have said tannic because the grape itself is very thick skinned and tannic and this wine uses some #wholecluster and the combination produces a medium- chewy tannin to the finish of this wine. P F stands for Pie Franco which means original pre philoxera rootstock. Nice wine. For me it's more reminiscent of a Croze Hermitage than a Malbec.

Fir some reason I guessed Spanish Syrah, thanks to its spice and sun kissed fruitiness. There's also an interesting Natural Wine feeling attached which becomes more evident with air. Drink now.

Never had Bobal. This one is robust in every way. Great tannin structure while still maintaining smoothness. Reminds me a little of Malbec. 2011

Textbook Bobal. Purple, just right in its florality; less peppery than expected. Should earn a spot in every Spanish list.
