A very big Tempranillo. From Castillo y Leon. A complex wine, 15.5 Alcohol. Too much. Taste is impressive but it tires after a big glass.

Tempranillo is a crap shoot. I could get some beautiful earth and soil, or I can get stuck with over-oaked new world thickness. Luckily this is the former. Pepper, spice and everything nice. A medicinal cherry quality in the mid palette I'm not crazy about.

Un Espagnol californien!! Sucre résiduel à l'honneur. Richesse, souplesse et concentration. Meilleur que bien d'autres dans ce style.

I’m a cab person but it’s good to try other type wines. This Tempranillo is not bad. Euro wines always take a little to get use to but once you get through a glass you can start to taste the region.

One of my favorite wines. Nose was voluptuous, musty, and mysterious, rustic, earthy, with notes of dark chocolate. I initially described it as ‘crypt-like’. Intoxicating. On the palate there were big notes of dark red fruit, vanilla, and leather, but especially chocolate, and then a long chocolate finish with huge tannins to tame the illusion of sweetness. Impressive on its own, I preferred it without food- it felt almost more like an apertif or a dessert because of the high alcohol & rich oaked character.
