Las Suertes Rueda Old Vines Verdejo

2016 Las Suertes is a gorgeous barrel fermented Verdejo with tons of charm and character and a fair amount of complexity. Prettier and more fine-etched than expected on the palate, it shows soft fruit of honeydew melon and white peach with a succulent key lime note on the finish tinged with subtle minerality. Aromatically it suggests ripe orchard fruit and citrus blossoms with a hint of fresh coriander. More air reveals a slight tropical nuance. Nearly weightless on the palate, this is a very fresh and cleansing white that will provide an excellent counterpoint to marinated shrimp and grilled fish dishes.

Great Spanish from Kurt. Bright but oaky. A little sweet maybe but just on the finish. Would try again.

Kind of restrained at first, really came into its own on day 2. Energetic, with rich texture and lifted acidity. Stone, citrus, and tropical fruit, honeysuckle, with a mineral core coursing through.

Light lunch before the big night off their list from 100 yr old old Verdejo vines showing complex notes of orchid fruits, citrus with lots of mineral, chalk, saline & acacia flower.

A 100% Verdejo with exotic fruit (pineapple, mango), but also fresh white fruit (ripe pear, melon), vanilla and some fine herbs in the finish. Complex wine, very nice indeed.

Faint, crisp citrus fruits, brine, slightly oxidative. Makes an outdoor lunch all the more wonderful.
