Jan 3rd, 2016Dried blackberries, dried leaves, aged cedar, and black pepper notes frame flavors of vanilla and dusty cinnamon. Earth prevails in the form of wet gravel and dried bay leaves. Funky and musty but stays light on its feet. Tannins push and pull out front, but citrusy acidity hones in character and brightness. Still young, but drinking quite well now. Finding the fruit to intensify as the wine breathes.

Mar 29th, 2017A youthful classic Rioja. Leather, tobacco, black cherry, maybe a touch of strawberry...still has many wonderful years ahead of it.

Dec 19th, 2016Took awhile to open up, but when it did, it revealed a bouquet of cigar box, green olives, toasted coconut, dill, and leather overlaying aromas of black cherry and umami. Classic reserva Rioja, though not quite the complexity one expects from a gran reserva.
