Bodegas Juan Gil
Albacea Jumilla Monastrell
Pretty much love everything from the Gil Family. This Monastrell clocks in at $10 and worth it. Big ripe jelly jar fruit with a touch of that crimson brick flavor. Lip smacking fruit rounds out the finish, but short. This wine is uncomplicated and straight forward Monastrell made for when you just want a nice easy going glass of vino. Think of it as a baby Juan Gil. Definitely worth it to buy by the case and pop open for family & neighbors. Will it impress your wine snob friends? Probably not, but sometimes you just don't need to make an impression on anyone but yourself.

Jan 23rd, 2017It's hard to find a value as good as this. Deep fruit becoming more and more potent as it breathes, with a chalky earthiness. Very round and versatile. Impressive at the price point

Feb 16th, 2016Great color, full bodied, and unapologetic. Smoke, anise and bark on the nose. Fruit forward, but in a mature and controlled way. Great smoke, spice and brick dust gives it character. Sandy tannins and a great finish. Definitely food wine.

Subtle hints of cinnamon and vanilla makes it more interesting than Comologo but not as drinkable. Very strong material with good foundation and without too much make-up makes it compelling.
