La Gitana Manzanilla Sherry
Pale light gold in colour. Aromas of Flor yeast, nutty, oxidative. Aspects of over ripe mouldy apple. Refreshing and salty, finishing bone dry. Trying to understand Manzanilla and Sherry in general. This is a fino Sherry made from the Palomino grape. The more I sipped this the more I liked it. 15%ABV. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Manzanilla is best drunk when young and fresh. Incredible value at only $25 AUD for a half bottle.

Oct 17th, 2023Bottle a bit old and shows signs of oxidation. Needs to be fresher.

Nov 1st, 2017The quintessential Manzanilla, the driest of the dry sherries - hint of saline tang, crushed flint and a bit of olive fruit. High acidity but will balanced. Bone dry. There is no better wine to pair with jamón, anchovies, olives...any and all tapas

Feb 11th, 2016Brilliant green olive tones on both the nose and the palate. Not my favorite expression, but as far as the spectrum of sherry is concerned, this one definitely has its place on the lesser side of complexity.
