Loads of dark fruit, pepper and initially, pretty hot but that seemed to dissipate over time (either that or my palate got used to it). That being said, this was pretty decent for $10.

It’s young. Shows promise, spicy with Ceasar salad, fruit forward with a mesquite smoked steak. Needs more time in the bottle.

Garnacha tintorera works great here! Really enjoyed this... Not light easy drinking though!

Tasted 2x over the past 8 days, once @ a shop's tasting, the other from our own bottle, that one getting progressively better over 3 days (Private Preserve only applied after Day 1)! I QUITE agree with others here that there's a decided "bite"/"strength" [in a negative sense]/astringency when first opened, though even that begins mitigating with air in the glass. However, once THAT is overcome this becomes [IMHO] a **steal** @ $6.95, which my score takes into account.

Coffee, smoke, meaty aromas. The finish is a bit rough.

Whole Foods, $11

Dark rich color, almost black and completely opaque, looks like a rich full bodied wine. Aroma is equally powerful and rich, can smell it as soon as you pour, notes of ripe prune fruit, earth, and a little smokey alcohol. Probably one of the most full bodied wines I've had, mouth is covered in flavor with each sip and has a long finish. Flavor is similar to the nose, definitely some very ripe fruit but not necessarily the forefront, a little smokiness comes through and the two flavors almost gives it a meaty quality. Plenty of tannins, and a high alcohol content of 15% is definitely noticable but doesn't make it overly harsh. It's like the whisky of wines. I really enjoyed this, but it is not an everyday bottle and not for the faint of heart!

Fleshy, smoky, and meaty. The Grenache and Mourvèdre play off each other quite nicely. Palate stays centered and focused. Killer value.
