Inky ruby color. Ripe dark berries, singed plum, candied licorice and woodsmoke on the deeply perfumed nose. Made in a weighty, ripe style, offering bitter cherry, cassis and fruitcake flavors that are energized by a late jolt of spiciness. Talk about full body. This is like a cab franc kissed a port. All I can think about is coffee braised short ribs.
