Deep Ruby with aromas of black and red fruits with floral spice and flinty notes, aged for 10 months in tank and another 10 in bottle, no oak! On the palate, cherry, blackberry and raspberry flavors with notes of licorice, nutmeg and wild herbs. Medium+ finish, fine tannins ending with mineral and spicy fruit character. Very nice!

Dusty blackberry and smoky prune, black cherry, black raisin, violet and dark rose aromas all coalescing into a complex, arid mix of earthy dust and cocoa powder smells, with a side of black tahini. Black currant, tart black cherries, satin tannins, vine charcoal, grill char, valerian root, burnt gingerbread, plum reduction, and a balsamic depth bordering on hoisin. Great that this one has such concentration from high elevation fruit. Dark, deep and intense at a relative value. #Hesswine #Hess #Hessfamily #Argentinewine #Argentinawine #Salta #Colomé #highelevationwine #calchaquivalley #malbec #argentinemalbec

WS Top 100 ‘17, and I can see why. Smooth, balanced, elegant. Probably the best Malbec I have tasted. Winner of Thanksgiving Eve tasting. Rating affirmed 11/30/18. Minimal decanting necessary.

My kind of Malbec-excellent balance, emphasis on freshness, acidity, but the black fruit shines as well, alcohol completely in check. My go to wine shop thought this was their best malbec (out of many) & I agree

(from 100+-year-old vines planted at 2,300 meters; made without oak): Saturated bright ruby. Pungent, pure, primary aromas of candied blackberry, black cherry, cassis, bitter chocolate and spices; conveys a superripe, even slightly figgy hint of thick, sun-drenched skins without loss of focus. Just as backward on the palate, with its kirsch, cassis and dark chocolate flavors complicated by violet and mineral components; shows increasing creaminess and depth with time in the glass without losing its penetrating quality. Finishes with firm tongue-dusting, well-buffered tannins and slowly mounting length. Some outstanding 2016 reds were made a world away in Uco Valley, but very few of them can match this classically dry Salta wine for texture. I give this an edge over its 2015 sibling for its more obvious definition and stronger impression of acidity. I love the "rawness" of this wine and its purity and complexity. Rather big in body for the Malbecs I've had lately and it carries lots of heat. On the nose there's aromas of dusty minerality, cranberry, blackberry, mustard seed and a little barnyard / spoiled milk funk. There's flavors of blackberry, cranberry, seasoned tomato, black tea, and fresh plastic. It finishes oaky, spicy and tannic.

Berry forward with dark blackberries and raspberries. Some anise on the nose. Lots of chocolate, black pepper and cedar. Tannins are starting to smooth out but this will age nicely for another couple of years.
