Very brisk, red-fruited, a bit wild with bitter berry along with the sweet ripe berry fruit. Cough syrup and mineral dust. A bit medicinal numbing, licorice. Dusty tannic herbal. Way less giving than the 2018, most definitely needs time in bottle.

Medium ruby in color, with medium intensity and aromas of red cherry, raspberry, tomato leaf and cedar. Dry with medium plus acidity, medium plus tannins and medium plus alcohol. The body would be considered medium, however. A medium plus flavor intensity and flavor characteristics of black pepper, red cherry, and smoke. Very good. Drink or hold.

Popped yesterday. A little sparkle upon opening and pleasant if a bit disjointed acidity and fruit. Open on the counter overnight and this has settled. On the nose: black cherry, bramble, savory herbs. On the palate: soft red and black fruit, lovely minerality, good acidity and a bit of prickle. Some chalky tannin on the finish. This seems to be a solid food wine, with the strucure to improve some with age; definitely not a fruit bomb.
