Dense Dark Ruby - almost black. Notes of dusty dried rose petals Barb thought. I agreed and also saw a note of warm terracotta. A rich and full bodied palate with dried black fruits and plum. Soft resolved tannins. One of the 1001 wines. Great purity of high country Malbec. This altitude makes Argentinian Malbec superior to the Malbec in its spiritual home in Cahors in the south of France IMO. I had to agree with this line in the 1001 Wines “refinement and balance but with a big personality. “

The 3rd and final wine for the weekend in the World Rugby Series - this one a Malbec from Argentina. Dark Crimson in colour - opaque with signs of age on the rim. Aromas of Tobacco. Quite a juicy palate - medium minus weight. Restrained - classed as new world but made like old world. Fine grained Tannins. Thoroughly enjoyable - loved it. I have a new appreciation of Argentinian Malbec. After 2 hours in the decanter a light tarry aspect with a touch of pastille. Amazing how much better Argie Malbec is compared to its spiritual home in Cahors France. Probably the altitude in the Andes has a lot to do with it.

Brought this back from Mendoza in 2011. Has much more earthy components than malbecs I've had here - and it's awesome. Great combination of dark fruits and rustic undertones. Terrific.
