This is an excellent Napa Cabernet which is not too heavy (as many are) but has a great balance of fruit, oak and smoothness. What's interesting about this wine is the fruit flavor. There are flavors of blueberry, sweet tobacco, plum and cedar giving it a mild sweetness. This is balanced out with an underlying black cherry, dark chocolate and just a hint of spice that holds on for a long finish. I attribute the light spice touch to the cedar. The most enjoyable part is a mix of fantastic flavors not usually seen together but work so well in a very smooth blend. My only criticism is the lack of weight. A little more weight would make this stand out even more and fit the cab perception, but the smoothness makes up quite well in more of a top flight French Bordeaux way.

Been saving for years and of course wife opens it up thinking nothing of it and bam, time to celebrate on a Wednesday night apparently! Damn was it good what a great vintage, aged so nicely plenty of years on it too. Leather, tobacco and just enough jammy goodness, as it opened fruit was less and less...which made me enjoy more and more!

Black Coyote Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Napa Valley USA... Aromas de especias y torrefacción desde su primera nariz; canela, caramelo y placentera vainilla que evolucionan a algo de regaliz y anis estrellado con un elemento de fruta oscura madura; ciruela e higo. En boca un ataque placentero (muy placentero) con una presencia de alcohol y acidez en perfecto equilibrio. Lo llevamos al area retro nasal para recibir aromas de clavo y un post gusto largo que nos invita a disfrutar lentamente de esta singular experiencia y a pasar por el ejercicio de degustación en cada sorbo para ver que otra sorpresa nos traerá El Coyote.

Sadly, I will miss this vineyard's small batch wines but luckily bought a few bottles before they closed down.
