This stuff is showing so well right now! Incredible nose of black pepper, anise, lavender, and cedar. Chewy, elegant and absolutely gorgeous, packed full of smoked black plum, blackberries, dark chocolate, gravel, and a Bordeaux like finish. Paired with Wagyu Beef, sauteed tarragon yellow Oyster Mushrooms, and roasted carrots and striped beets - studying to be a better cook under Gordon Ramsey. Cheers!

Big wine. That classic Napa cab, rich, deep purple in color, and huge on the tannins. Cassis, Vanilla, clove, pepper, tobacco, and delish

Compared to the 2011 vintage of this Cabernet, which was soft, smooth, and more like the showcase of the Howell Mountain fruit mixed in, the 2012 vintage was big, brooding, and intense, more like the showcases of that Stag's Leap valley floor grapes making that classic, "Iron fist in a velvet glove" style we've come to love, yet this wine is much, much more than that! First off, the nose was just marvelous. I could have stopped there at the clove, cedar box, and rose petal aromas speeding out of the bowl, quickly following with sweet tobacco, smoke and wet forest floor. The pallet was just as amazing with dark black currants and creme-de-casis, vanilla, oak spices, choco powder, and winding up to a gripping end. Medium plus in body, and worth every sip. This Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely unique in my book. Can't wait to dive into the new vintage of 16 x 20 that he also makes!

@Delectable Wine this is the 2010 Black Cordon Reserve Cru Cabernet Sauvignon. Not the regular Black Cordon Cabernet Sauvignon bottling.

Black and red fruit, leather, cedar, tobacco with soft tannins and a heavy mouthfeel. So smooth. So good.

Jul 7th, 2018Purchased these about two years ago, with the first of 2 going down tonight. This wine poured a dark maroon with a purple tint. The wine has a lot of youthful inky fruit. The opening was a little more elegant, but this wine overall was a monsterously dense and thick wine. Entry of blackberry pie and oregano, cinnamon sweetness in the middle. Chalky and youthful fruit. There is a hint of black licorice towards the finish. Some olive towards the back. Finishes a little tannic even at 3 hours post double decant, which was definitely needed here (and still could have used all night to open!). This wine has a lot going on, and will continue to develop for the next 5-7 years.

Had the pleasure to have a tasting last Fall at the owners home. Wow - what a great wine. Powerful on the nose. Opens up to amazing blend of oak and fruits. Really enjoyed this one!
