Cassis, cinnamon, truffle, and earth nose. Cassis, dried cherries, red currants, leather flavors and integrated tannins. Pretty enjoyable.

Medium to deep ruby red. Dirty attack on the nose with some earthiness, dusty, a touch vegetal, dried cherries, truffles and herbal. A little dark spices. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Savory on the palate, a little bit of dark berries, earthy, and a little green. Very dry with a medium plus finish. Drink till 2023.

Favorite Maryland Estate.

2006 Black Ankle Crumbling Rock Red Blend, Frederick County, Maryland. @blackanklevines Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, Merlot, Petit Verdot. Seductive with violet notes. Black cherry, plum and forest floor intertwined with cedar, baking spice, mocha dust. Soft and silky. Truly amazing. #wine #sommelier #mdwine

Last red from Black Ankle. Ruby red with a purplish hue. Nose had some savory notes and a little stinky. Undertones of greenery and slightly vegetal. Attack was coated with dark fruits and a savory backbone. A little bit of vegetal notes too. Moderate tannins (6/10) with a moderate body. Very complex, rounded and enjoyable. Long and lingering finish. Very hard to decide which of their reds are the best. Drink till 2024.
