I know I should have waited but I just had to have it with smoked pork shoulder, pulled pork. it was near perfect.

Medium to deep ruby red. Tight on the nose with light notes of anise, bramble berries, and a little dirty. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Tons of layers, hard to distinguish some of them. Some savory layers on the palate with dark berries and thicker than the Evangelho. A touch of heat but tons of potential. Dry and long finish. Drink from 2019 till 2028. (93+)

The Bedrock Vineyard in Sonoma Valley was originally planted in 1854 by Civil War generals William “Tecumseh” Sherman and “Fightin” Joe Hooker (from left). It would be passed on to George Washington Whitman (Walt Whitman's younger brother) and then to the former American Consul to China Eli T. Shepherd (no pic), before being purchased by Senator George Hearst in 1888. He planted most of the vines that exist today, which were some of the first to be planted on American rootstock. #merica

Loads of black fruit, licorice and graphite - and a nice slice of acid that lightens the balance. If we hadn't had a second bottle, we would have let this age for several more years.
