Bedrock Wine Co.
North Coast Syrah
Had fun with a “Judgement of Granite Bay” France vs. California challenge. Both ‘15s, both originally about the same price. The Bedrock was plush and luxurious on the palate while soft on the nose. Glorious to drink. The Graillott nose was like an epic poem about the inside of a French barn. Loved it. But the palate didn’t match. I could swirl and smell that Graillott forever.... and then following that with a sip of the Bedrock... managed the perfect wine!

Jan 8th, 2021Olive, garrigue, still lots of fruit, will check back in in a few years. Tremendous value.

Oct 25th, 2020A little richer syrah expression than some of the single vineyards but well balanced. Dark fruit with a spice and pepper note that should continue to evolve for several more years.

Dec 14th, 2018Bigger fan of the last two vintages of this wine. Most likely will improve with more aging.

Nov 10th, 2018The fruit is starting to mellow just a little bit but these still benefit from an hour of air. Rich dark fruit, with lots of syrah character. A little black pepper but not overwhelming and a little green pepper too. Drinks well now with more improvement short term and should be in its prime for another 8-10

Oct 24th, 2018A whole lot to like here. Northern Rhône-ish.

Oct 2nd, 2018One of the best QPR California wines out there. Black and blue fruits, smoke, meat, olive and a good glug of acidity. Complex? No. Powerful? Nope. Clean Syrah with personality and balance for cheap? Yup. Every day and twice on Sunday at this price. And yeah, it ages well too - a little less exuberant fruit and a little more savory brine and everyone's happy you stuck a few of these in the cellar.

Apr 25th, 2018I can say 2 things for sure. It’s more open than the 2016 and it’s still super young. Very fruit forward at this young stage with black fruit dominating but shows promise with hints of bacon and smoke. This will develop nicely, best on day 3.
