The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo Vineyard is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. This site on Mt. Veeder confers intense iron and ferrous notes that complement a savory, mineral-driven profile that is typical of Cabernets from these red mountain soils. Firm swaths of tannin frame the finish in a breathtaking, old school Cabernet Sauvignon that evokes memories of some of the most iconic wines made on Mt. Veeder. It is every bit that outstanding. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous)

Dense purple red in color. Phenol, graphite, smoke, mint, black currant in nose. Mint-spearmint cherry-black currant cough syrup, vanilla, orange marmalade and black pepper in finish with grape seed bitterness and grape skin astringency. Could use at least two more years of aging.

Old school California Cab. Dark black fruit and herbal notes of eucalyptus and cedar. Balanced alcohol and body. Nice fruit but not over-ripe. Tannins dry the palate on the medium plus finish. Let this breath for 2 hours or age until 2020x

Balls out old school cab--green, taut, structured, sour--full throttle Cabernet straight out of a time machine from 1975. Absolutely awesome.

Tasted blind against some big hitting Napa wines, showed very, very well. Made very well and with purpose. Just pushes into the modern side of things, but not too far. Pretty red fruit, licorice and black plums. Solid. When you nail it you nail it. #sonoma

I am super interested in Cab planted on the Sonoma valley side of Mt Veeder, can't figure out why more people aren't copying these guys. Recognizable mountain character but very different feeling relative to napa cab. Also great value. Nice work, fellas

Judging by the ratings I am in the distinct minority on this one. Feels really fat to me; heavy on the currant and menthol on the finish. Almost medicinally. I have had major shopping problems with Bedrock so am reserving judgment till I open another down the road. In the meantime I’m going to chalk this one up to a bad bottle.
