Bedrock Wine Co.
Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Zinfandel Blend
The 2020 Evangelho Heritage Wine is rich, boisterous and super-expressive. Succulent black cherry, plum, licorice, spice and mocha are front and center. There's real weight and density here, yet all the elements are so well balanced. The 2020 is dense and full of character. This year's blend is mostly Zinfandel and Mataro. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2022)

Soft, warm, spicy, inviting—dried cherries, cocoa, floral tones, tomato leaf, cracked pepper; soft tannins and lightly viscous. No need to wait. A great pairing for a very elegant barbecue

Jul 14th, 2021Love it. That Bedrock spicy smucker’s strawberry and grape jam. Strong to quite strong herbs on the mouth. Gonna see how it plays with Vietnamese wings.

May 1st, 2019This one is labeled “Heritage”, not Zinfandel Blend. Deep burgundy red, highly extracted pigment. Initially, herbal-briar notes in nose with hints of red fruit and funk. Soft, black currant, cherry and raspberry flavors with length, mild seed and skin tannins in finish. Over time, licorice emerges in finish with moderate to heavy skin and seed tannins. Decant at least three hours. Plum flavor emerges if you are patient enough

Feb 3rd, 2019Okay. What am I missing? I had another wine from this producer I thought was a knockout, but I heard some buzz on this specifically and I’m at a loss. Polished red fruit, spicy, thin and unremarkable. The acidity really kills this palate. It’s so wonky, divisive and unfocused. If there are layers, subtleties, or nuances, it’s lost underneath this pounding acid. Change my mind.
