Beaulieu Vineyard
Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
BV grapes were first planted back in 1900, by founder Georges de Latour. A blend of mostly Cab Sauv with a bit of Petit Verdot. Outstanding! Deep Ruby with complex berry fruit aromas adding in toasty floral spice. On the palate big full flavors of blackberry, cherry and sweet plum flavors with licorice and cacao, adding some cedar notes. Soft velvet tannins, young, long finish, well integrated and nicely balanced, a joy to drink. Will Benefit from long aging.

Oct 10th, 2020The friendship and wine could not have been better. 65 BV runs strong-great structure and bright red fruit still presents itself. Thanks for sharing @David L

Oct 20th, 2019Another killer Wednesday Wine Committee lineup. As always, 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind.
I called this late ‘70s Napa Cab. Sandwiched in between Bordeaux wines, the profile was decidedly sweeter. The fruit has become slightly syrupy with a maple note. Fully integrated and obviously on the decline, it was fun to see how this held up fairly well after 2+ in the decanter...no drop off. Dates, old graham cracker, and cherry cordial were the main highlights.

Didn’t expect much. Not a great Napa vintage. Passive storage, but in only one place since release. Basically this is what the Burgundians say “If you want to drink Burgundy, you can wait 50 years for Bdx to become Burgundy or you can just buy Burgundy”. 🤣
Definitely fading but still a touch of acid left to keep the maraschino cherry juice type fruit integrated. This was very elegant and....Burgundy like.

Aromas to die for. I wanted to dab a little on my wrist and neck. Jammy fruit and in an age where Napa Valley allowed only 51% of Cab grapes to call the wine Cab, BV was proud to use only 100% Cab in their GDL PR. Another fun fact, they made 20,000 cases of this juice! It was definitely the Phelps Insignia of its day from a quality standpoint with that many cases.

Jan 15th, 2019Monthly WTF wine group. Special event this month as Ben provided all ‘80s Napa cabs. A few of us chipped in and provided some whites/bubbly.
Toasted Graham cracker, cassis, and even some old cedar wood. Structure was still in tact and young tasting.

One of my two surprise wines of the night. Wow this is good and from a vintage that always excels but was lost in the shadows of 69.
