This was a disappointment. Now I understand why the winery dropped their pants on the price…

This wine has scarred us for life - thanks to @Martin G Rivard.
It’s so opulent and sexy. Six years in, its singing from the rooftops. Loving this. Thanks for the gift, Martin!

My buddy Luke is moving to New York next week and knowing he enjoys young Napa cabs, I thought this would be a good bottle to open as a send off! This was my first Cult that I was able to purchase when visiting last year (though I’m well aware of its fanfare on here, especially from Martin “Beau Rivard” @Martin G Rivard)

Not quite pop and pour, but close. Another one of those ‘14s that epitomes the words “plush”. The fruits are so soft and pronounced...black and blue fruit, decadent milk chocolate, licorice and sweet oak. Obviously young on the palate but drinking quite well after an hour or so of being open. Lovely texture. Blueberry compote & plum on the finish. This is one of those wines that obviously benefits from time, but probably drinks better young than with substantial age. 👌

Slightly green on the nose, no go for me. That blew off with a decant. Deep and heavily extracted yet light and refined when you take a sip. Traditional black and blue fruit yet, drinks more left bank with the Cab Franc peaking through.

Big, bold, and generous even in light of the challenging vintage. Offers up scents of dark/Blue fruit, violets, pepper. Coats the mouth with black currant, leather and spice. Everything’s nice. A bit of heat knocks it but only slightly and it’s not obscene. Good juice for sure.

The 19’ is the first vintage release under new ownership, which tries to establish a new branding for Cult. Not sure it’s because of the lawsuits or pure marketing decision.
I have not tasted prior vintages, which costs well over $100 under the Beau Vigne brand. The 19’ costs $30, at which is a very good value IMO.
Full body, rich and delicious as expected. A bit more extracted than I would like, but overall there is the sense of balance.
I would buy again if it’s still around $30.

Deep and dark ruby red. Nose is coated in dark fruits and dark spices like cocoa, cinnamon, and cloves. Heavy tannins (8.5/10) with loads of cassis and black berries. Insanely rich, thick, and voluptuous mouthfeel. Full bodied and super long finish. This can easily last another 15 plus years. Drink till 2030.

$100.00 bottle that drinks like a $200.00 bottle, a must try if you like a thick & juicy Napa Cab, ok maybe not a $200.00 bottle,
$150.-$175 at least,
