My buddy Luke is moving to New York next week and knowing he enjoys young Napa cabs, I thought this would be a good bottle to open as a send off! This was my first Cult that I was able to purchase when visiting last year (though I’m well aware of its fanfare on here, especially from Martin “Beau Rivard” @Martin G Rivard)

Not quite pop and pour, but close. Another one of those ‘14s that epitomes the words “plush”. The fruits are so soft and pronounced...black and blue fruit, decadent milk chocolate, licorice and sweet oak. Obviously young on the palate but drinking quite well after an hour or so of being open. Lovely texture. Blueberry compote & plum on the finish. This is one of those wines that obviously benefits from time, but probably drinks better young than with substantial age. 👌

Big, bold, and generous even in light of the challenging vintage. Offers up scents of dark/Blue fruit, violets, pepper. Coats the mouth with black currant, leather and spice. Everything’s nice. A bit of heat knocks it but only slightly and it’s not obscene. Good juice for sure.

Deep and dark ruby red. Nose is coated in dark fruits and dark spices like cocoa, cinnamon, and cloves. Heavy tannins (8.5/10) with loads of cassis and black berries. Insanely rich, thick, and voluptuous mouthfeel. Full bodied and super long finish. This can easily last another 15 plus years. Drink till 2030.

Doesn't have the nose of the guest cottage, but smooth as silk,
Again this is not the cheap garbage cult wine you see at Total Wine, no association whatsoever, I feel bad for Beau Vigne because many have gotten the 2 mixed up, even Delectable has them confused,

This is a young cab. The nose is non existent but the palate has classic cab notes. The oak is up front then lingers and diminishes on the finish. The fruit is well balanced and the wine leaves a dry mouth feel indicative of a classic Cabernet. This wine would do well with some time laying down.

On day 2 it is singing. Just rich, full, and balanced with velvet tannin and just enough acidity.

I’m sure I’m opening this way too soon. But it’s not holding that against me.

Pretty tight on opening. But plenty of fruit, spice, vanilla and mocha.
