Interesting wine, big for Gamay, but Gamay aromatics there. Big fruit, spice, medium acid, earthy. Fun, but not typical style for the grape.

More impressive than the last tasting in August this year. Raspberry, strawberry and other red fruits and a hint of clove. A lovely fresh spicy nose. A light weight plus palate showing sour cherry, muted acid finishing with very fine tannins. Phillip Jones showing his skill with a grape other than Pinot Noir or Chardonnay. Good to drink now or in the next 12 months.

Quite a rich colour for the light weight wine that follows. A somewhat frivolous nose of roses, spice, perfume, confectionery in general. The palate is fairly simple with low tannins and low acid. The Pinots from Bass Phillip are much more impressive.

A Gamay from arguably Australia’s best Pinot Noir producer, Bass Phillip. Sweet cherry/strawberry perfume with some earthy stalky nuances. Red fruits on the palate with structure - more of a “real red wine “ than a juicy Beaujolais style. Short term cellaring to 2020.

Crimson with purple tinges. Strawberry earthy twiggy aromas coming thru on nose and palate. Very low tannins but noticeable acid. Made to be drunk within 5 years of vintage. - from arguably Australia’s best producer of Pinot Noir so he should make a good Gamay - and Phillip Jones has.

Delicately sweet, musky red fruit. So pure and fine. Utterly captivating

A bit overpriced perhaps. Musky, whole bunchy on the nose, ripe cherries, a hint of baking spices. Suggests ripeness but on palate is almost under ripe. Soft, juicy. Pure fruit, no minerality.
