Richly tannic. Not overboard with jaminess. Quite delicate balance. 90 points well earned.

A tannic monster. Hot spice and chalky dryness abound. Screaming for a fatty meat so it can cut through its juices.

Plummy, hot nose. Licorice, blackberry, vanilla. Light wood. Heavier sawdust on palate. Tobacco, preserved dark fruit. Considerable tannins; full finish.

Price $14.

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

Nice fruity nose with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, licorice, light vegetables, milk chocolates, smoke, pencil lead, light acetone, and black pepper.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and nice legs.

Dry and tangy on the palate with plums, raspberries, pomegranates, earth, graphite, spices, peppercorn, chocolates and tobacco leaf.

Medium on the finish with light tannins and tart raspberries.

A drinkable Shiraz from Australia, but very simple and a bit tart.
Unbalanced and probably on the way out by now. It really got points for the nose rather than the palate.

Needed 3 hours to open up.

14% alcohol by volume.

Tasting side by side with Saint Joseph. Moderately jammy plum, boysenberry, and red cherry, violets, mint, rosemary, dark chocolate, and recently grilled steak. Solid example.
