Dark and animal in nature, the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino comes to life like a savage beast waking from a deep sleep, sleek yet still shaking off its slumber. Purple-tinged florals and herbal tones meet depths of dark mineral-tinged fruits and hints of animal musk. This is silky-smooth upon entry, yet it quickly gains in tension and poise, as grippy tannins come to the fore, slowly drying the tart wild berry fruits, while becoming spicy and more grippy with every sip. The cheeks pucker with residual tannic tension as this finishes painfully young yet long, with hints of licorice. The extra time in bottle has only propelled the 2016 even further than expected. (Eric Guido, Vinous, December 2021)

One of the best Brunello's I have tried. It is rich, jammy with nice structure and a long finish. A small producer.

Equally great as on release, just more complete. Classic and built to last with intruiging inner sweetness and sexy tannins. Lovely!

Loved this. Loved producer'a story about how his family looks to make Brunello more on the elegant side than the over extracted side.

Excellent wine from a great year. Drank with dinner of beef cheeks cooked in Brunello, and paired perfectly. As the evening went on, the wine opened out even more, and the cherry fruit smoothed out to result in my last sip seeing a tear form in my eye as there was no more.

This is a good...but not great Brunello. Could still be a bit young, but the nose and palate are a bit one-dimensional for my tastes. Does not come close to the white we had earlier, but was still a great complement to the porchini mushroom-stuffed ravioli we had for dinner. So, a pretty awesome Italian Night overall.

Absolutely gorgeous! My birthday dinner antipasto choise. Cherry, leather and liquorice notes. Medium to full body. Quite tannic, but dusty ones. Goes strait to my top three Brunello annata. Could use some more cellaring, but delicious already!
