Octagon Red Bordeaux Blend

Blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, vanilla, eucalyptus, licorice and oak. Great structure and velvety tannins.

Conservative winemaking but in the best way. Firm tannins and dark fruit, nothing confected nor herbal, new oak has yet to fully integrate, but I trust this is the right call for a wine that deserves medium-long term cellaring.
I asked Luca about their Nebbiolo, which they have been bottling since the 80s that have aged exceedingly well, spurring then to plant more.

Full bodied, smooth, blackberry aroma, spiced coffee.

Black raspberry, blackberry, toasted nut, elegant structure, subtle spice overtop warm finish.

Another bottle of this (last tasting is 2018). Nose is really beautiful, fragrant, and concentrated. Noses are consistent with last tasting and definitely superior than 2013. Taste is slightly sweet and almost no tannins, dark fruits, oaky, tobacco leaves, and mineral. Consistent with last tasting too. Finish is long and savory.

Just great, acidic but complex

2013-16 vertical tasting. 2014 is the winner in my book.
