Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese

Not terribly complex but definitely persistent and balanced. Good versatile food wine.

2017 is lean, laser-focused and crunchy as a basket of fresh cranberries. Monster acidity and very taught mineral backbone. Brighter and fresher than the 2016 with comparatively subtle florality. This is an excellent match with a broad range of Pacific Rim foods.

Very light in color, smoky. Reminds me more of a Corvina, Pinot Noir or even a light Grenache disguised as Etna Rosso. Not much to it.

Red currant, cranberry, strawberry, rocks, and a whole heap of happiness.

Pale garnet; medium intensity aromas of red cherry, strawberries, red currant, rose petals, mushroom; developing; dry, extremely high acid, medium minus tannins, medium alcohol, light body, medium intensity flavors of underripe strawberries, red currant, bitter cherry pit, dried orange, hibiscus, rose petals; medium finish

2015. Doesn't pretend to be anything other than it is. Bright red fruit combined with expected minerality. Too easy to drink and a great match tonight with grilled bone-in pork chops. Wish I had bought a case. Thanks to David Lynch and Ian Cauble for a great pick. At $18 more than satisfying QPR. Magnums next time.

Light garnet, hibiscus and rose, tart/fresh red cherries 🍒, which went tart on palate. A whiff of desiccated red cherries as well. White pepper and savory mushroomy on the finish. Medium body, elevated tannins, astringent, medium (plus) acidity.

A real tipical Etna Rosso. Spicey with scents of black pepper.

Savory nose just a very good and interesting rose..

Gassy. Stony, rustic.
