Nose has some nice cherries but seems closed. Weird. Minerals and wet leafy earth. Palate is silky and bursting with cherries. Tremendous freshness but seems a bit hollow right now. Let’s see how air helps. Okay air is helping. Silkier, sweeter and sappier. Lovely density but a light density.

Decanted about ~2hrs.
Nose has ripe black cherry, wet autumn leaves and perhaps a skosh of oak.
Palate has bright tart red cherry, fresh black cherry and a little sous bois.
Very impressed with this Sangiovese from Emilia-Romagna (Ravenna) which is mystically drinking like a Burgundy.
Decanted about ~2hrs.
Nose has ripe black cherry, wet autumn leaves and perhaps a skosh of oak.
Palate has bright tart red cherry, fresh black cherry and a little sous bois.

I love this wine. Savigny les Sangiovese. Wet earth, bright cherries, so mineral, compelling nose. Palate is juicy and so so mineral with bright black cherry and red cherry fruit that is just crackling. Sour cherry fruit finish with lovely mineral grip and purity. Finished minerally sweet. Good structure.

Feb 2nd, 2019This tastes like a hypothetical Sangiovese grown in the Medoc. Nose has that dried twigs, cooling graveliness I associate with Medoc but with the dark cherry Sangiovese fruit underneath. Uncompromisingly dry in the mouth, but with intense tart cherry essence and lots of stony minerality. Great acids. A relatively austere style that worked very well with red cabbage-smothered chicken, which had some sweetness from the onions and braised cabbage.

Jan 21st, 2019Killer old school cool climate Sangiovese nose. Big aromas of ripe cherries and spice. Very deep nose. Attacks. Palate is big, ripe and sweet with rapier like balancing acids. Insane freshness for such a thoroughly ripe wine. Mineral as well on the finish. Nice contrast. Needs an hour as well. But once it gets going the nose really takes you places. I almost want to Eat, Prey and Love after smelling this wine.

Feb 22nd, 2018This is quite the unique Sangiovese. The nose is almost overwhelmingly mineral in its lifted pungency (in a good way), with dark cherry skin fruit veering into cassis-like notes. Linear and intense in the mouth, with outstanding cleansing acidity in the long echoey finish. It was terrific with my whole braised chicken in tomato sauce.

Jan 7th, 2018Alto Toscana is the future. Cooler climate Sangiovese is just so good as exhibited in this brilliant wine. Big cherries but rustic and cooling. Delicate. Some confectionary aromas as well. Earthy and mineral. So detailed and gorgeous. Really compelling. Juicy and complex with terrific freshness, stunning fruit and lovely purity. Really impressive wine. Elegant velvety tannins and everything just perfectly in place. Balanced and punches way way above its weight.
Alto Toscana is the future. Cooler climate Sangiovese is just so good as exhibited in this brilliant wine. Big cherries but rustic and cooling. Delicate. Some confectionary aromas as well. Earthy and mineral. So detailed and gorgeous. Really compelling. Juicy and complex with terrific freshness, stunning fruit and lovely purity. Really impressive wine. Elegant velvety tannins and everything just perfectly in place. Balanced and punches way way above its weight.

Wow. Fresh juicy blackberries. Like when you get lost in the woods and pick them fresh off the vine and pop them in your mouth with abandon. Less dark than brunello. More mineral. Juicy. Nice vibrant finish. Just a wonderfully unique expression of Sangiovese. So glad I bought this. Fass Selections. .. as this opens this gets like a beautifully brambly character. Sweeter blackberry fruit. Wow. ... as this opens some serious wet forest in the nose. ... enveloping on the palate as it opens. Sweet spicy blackberry liquor ... 90 minutes in some lovely Dustiness like old Bordeaux . If the bordeaux had insane freshness. Memories of grandmas attic. Such sweet blackberry flower aromatics on the finish.
