Full on tar and roses that took a good hour to come out. Burg-like in its vibe, lots of tension but managing to be smooth, leather-bound and loaded with extracted cherry and strawberry compote. Smoke. Soooooo long.

Unfortunately a mild case of TCA (cork taint) on the nose giving dusty apple aromas. Many people I know would reject this in a restaurant but the palate was largely unaffected. Very youthful in colour. On the palate fruit (red fruits) in decline over largely leathery savoury characters. Medium plus weight with dry powdery, still firm tannins, I often find in older Barolo. From a 4.5 acre vineyard located in Serralunga known for its iron rich soils giving deeply coloured Barolos. Overall impression of this wine is Solid and a bit Square sided lacking in any complexity for 15 years of age. Expected more - one of the 1001 wines.

Modern style Barolo. Oak still present at first. Powerful aroma of dark cherry, tar, some smoke and leather. Very layered and texturally engaging. Long finish. Likely to last for several years.

What a great wine! Superb structure, fine tannin. Pretty flowers, herbs and liquorice. Long flavours and perfect acid balance. This is worth the find

Excessive astringent tannins on finish for me; otherwise nice intense fruit
