Bricco Fiasco Barolo Nebbiolo
The 2019 Barolo Bricco Fiasco is bright, precise and nicely delineated. Sweet red cherry, mint, white pepper and orange peel give this mid-weight, nervy young Barolo plenty of top register intensity. Deceptively understated and nuanced, the 2019 is going to be interesting to follow. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2023)

Special hilltop vineyard of 3 acres of 70-year-old vines. A natural matured profile such as dried cherries, tangy raspberry, sandy tannins, powdered soil, licorice and full of truffle. Still a bit austere with a sharp acid drive

Oct 16th, 2023Astounding nose full of tar and rose water, needed an hour to come out and play. Palate full of old cherry and leathery, earthy dark red fruit, dried mushroom. Mellowed completely by age with melted tannins and the sense of bricked spicy fruit around the edges. Just lovely, with enough acidity left to keep it all together. Was really singing at room temp.

Mar 15th, 2021After 20 min decant this had a powerful attack on the nose, earthy and rich cherry fruit, smoke. The mature vanilla oaky notes have evolved to wet earth tones, including some oak and vanilla bean, espresso. The only thing wrong with this Azelia is that it was served next to the ‘99 Scavino from the same Clos!

Aug 31st, 2018Just hitting the decanter now, nose is voluptuous raisin, yum. Color medium red-brown.
To be paired with a beautiful bolognese sauce which has been slowly cooking for a couple hours... Both should be ready at about the same time in a few more hours.
Nose: Raisin-Cherry and ripe cherry notes, wet autumn earth.
Palate: Light oak touch intially, then dehydrated strawberry evolving to light, dried cherry, light mineral quality.
Substantiality better than our prior bottle 11 months ago, but still too young. Remaining bottles should be tucked away for 10+ years. I can only imagine the evolution between now and then...
