I am trying a Pinot from Germany tonight. Thought it would be a good change of pace. This is an August Kessler 2010 Pinot Noir from Pfalz. On the nose I get strawberry, raspberry, vanilla and hints of oak. Now where the nose really gets me going the palate really loses me. This a bit on the thin side. There is a nice acidity and minerality on the front end. The front end gives you tart strawberries, sour cherries then gets lost in the mid palate with nothing on the backend. I was really hoping but it just didn't produce.

Oct 28th, 2015Ruby/garnet color, smells of raspberry, barnyard, aged cheese, mushroom, cured meat, and damp forest floor, good balanced acidity with barely any tannin, tastes of pomegranate, cranberry, dried longan fruit, and walnut, nice smooth finish, works well with sausages and pork dishes.
