Grass-fed organic strips grilled with garlic and rosemary and a nice Brunello with a bit of bottle age. Happy belated birthday to me. Nose is very animated, with intense rich, old leather and library scents, crushed rock, and brandy-macerated cherries. Mouthfilling, with a nice dusty texture, the flavors are fairly rich for a ‘13, with great balance of fruit and secondary and even a few tertiary notes. Long finish.

Starts out lean for a brunello. Dusty nose that only gets going after several hours.. revealing red and purple fruit, exotic spices- star anise, orange peel, clove, a little coffee bean. Plus prominent tannins and this is almost aglianico-like. Rustic, lively, delicious….
and in a few days it has really hit its stride. More fruit has emerged, edges are smoother, and it’s all class and poise. Would def give it another few years in the cellar. Pushing 9.3

Agree with @Josh Morgenthau. Dark and brooding. Needs a bit.

Great brunello. Nose of really elegant cocoa and spice. Palate is blackberry and licorice. Really fresh. Great licorice spice finish. Silky tanins. Structure to age for a decade or more. Bought from Fass selections.
