Assunto Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Man. Our customers are really missing out on brunello. This is lovely. As aromatic and nuanced as very good Northern rhone wines. Just a different character.

Nose: very lithe lilacs. As this opens a hint of game. Sexy.

Palate: texture is so silky. Perfect early to midseason cherries. Not at all heavy. This is high altitude Brunello. Juicy. Hint of Sangiovese spice. Maybe a hint of black pepper. As this opens more hidden density and just an expensive taste.

Sensual but classy cling on the finish.

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2014

Starts out lean for a brunello. Dusty nose that only gets going after several hours.. revealing red and purple fruit, exotic spices- star anise, orange peel, clove, a little coffee bean. Plus prominent tannins and this is almost aglianico-like. Rustic, lively, delicious….
and in a few days it has really hit its stride. More fruit has emerged, edges are smoother, and it’s all class and poise. Would def give it another few years in the cellar. Pushing 9.3

Rather lean that propped up barrique fat.
