Big nose. Subtle delivery. Distinctive black currants.

Jul 4th, 2018Decanted an hour, shows cassis, black currant, eucalyptus, vanilla, and liquorice. Balanced is maintained even at 10 years old, acid still present. Drinking well now and for a few more years. Aside from some minor dried fruits and potpourri this wine barely shows its age. Rim variation is nonexistent. Great wine.

Mar 14th, 2016Wow Awesome Wine this 2001 was amazing. Huge fruit with soft tannins, great complexity! Brought by Dennis! CB 96+ in my notes!

Oct 5th, 2015Smoove, still nice cassis notes on the nose, with menthol and mushroomy notes. Tannins have pretty much faded out by now, with good berry flavors.

Jan 27th, 2022Classic older CA cab. Fantastic aromas of dried currants, leather, and cassis, I can’t believe how well this is drinking. Great balance, impressive levels of fruit despite its age, and a beautiful, lingering finish. It probably still has several years of life left if you can believe it, but if you have one of these in your cellar do yourself a favor and open one up. Just terrific...and a great argument against anyone who says California cabs can’t age.
