This wine is a total revelation. Terroir-transparent Alvarinho from a cult producer, 9 months in wood / intense floral and layered tropical and orchard fruit aromatics / creamy, insanely long finish, and serious complexity / think premier Cru Chablis. Wow.

2011 - A lovely crispy wine, fresh and stony, intense wine delivering much, a top class Alvarinho produced by one of the iconic Vinho Verde producer Anselmo Mendes - fermented in 400L barrels, 9 months on lees - pairing nicely fish and also meat dishes 😋👍 Yummy !

From Anselmo Mendes, the 2013 Curtimenta Alvarinho is a lesson in the aging potential of Vinho Verde whites. Fermentation starts on the skins, the grapes are then pressed into large format barrels to age for 9 months. Post bottling, Curtimenta is further aged in bottle for one year, all of which translates in the body of this wine. It's silky, slightly oily and exquisitely smooth with incredibly complex and ever-changing flavors bruised pear and yellow-fleshed peaches that gracefully dwindle to a finish of lime zest, white grapefruit and almond skins. Bravo! Sample

Great acidity and an amazing body. Fantastic winemaker, he knows how to do it.

Lots of crunchy, fresh fruit: especially stone fruit and citrus. Has more body than the usual alvarinho. Some oiliness together with a phenolic feel, but very balanced so together with a high acidity.

Mycket välgjord fylligare variant och Vinho Verde. Snärtig exotisk frukt. Litchi, nätmelon och päron. Rökiga undertoner. Fatlagringen har gett bra textur och bett.

Very smooth, high minerality, soft peach, nectarine, pear. Delicious and complex.

From what I tasted from this winemaker, interestingly enough it is the one I liked the most. For an aromatic lover, this 9 months oaked wine is incredibly well made. Imagine and chardonnay but fruity. Very well done.
